Welcome, to the Minerva Armored Motor-car website. Although the Minerva Motor Company re-built and produced most of the new armored vehicles, and was a household name when it came to making armored cars, there were other auto makers who produced armored cars during WWI. The three companies in Belgium were, Minerva, Sava (Societe Anversois pour la fabrications de Voitures Automobiles), and Morse. Great Britain's armored cars were made by Rolls-Royce and Lanchester. On this website, I will try and give you a little information about the first motorized armored cars of the 20th Century, and their first use in defense of a nation. They were the "Hummers" of their day, and the Belgian army made good use of them in the first days of World War I and during the 'Siege of Antherp". These little armored cars were used to defend Belgium against the invasion of over-powering numbers of men, and large guns, of the Imperial German Army. While the British used them to save downed pilots on the battlefields of Europe, and to patrol and fight in the deserts of Africa and Arabia. Later, these special little vehicles, with their brave crews would be sent to Russia to help defend that nation. The Belgian Morse and the British Lanchester, were sent to Russia after the fall of Belgium, and the stabilization of the Western Front, while the Rolls-Royce went to Africa and Arabia, and were considered an important arm in the Arabic army led by the famous Lawrence of Arabia. Find out more about these "little cars that could", by reading about them in the next few pages. Little in size and few in number, they stood up to the massive on-slaught of the Imperial German army, and slowed the inevitable from happening. Most monarchs are handed their crown on a plate but, Elizabeth got hers by cunning and courage.When Elizabeth I became queen, her country was at war, the treasury was bankrupt, and a deep religious rift, between Protestants and Catholic's, threaten to tear the country apart. Elizabeth I's web site will cover her childhood, her near death experiences, how she became Queen, and how she persevere' in her struggles as Queen, being she was a Protestant woman, in a male dominated, and still Catholic England. Cowboys, many of them illiterate Southern farm teenagers looking for adventure and a little money, built their legend during the great cattle drives in the two decades between the mid-1860's to the mid-1880's. They gathered millions of longhorn cows and mustang ponies, the largest movement of livestock in history, from the coastal prairies and brush lands of southern Texas and drove them north, over a network of thousands of miles of trails, which ended at markets in Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming and beyond. The Chisholm Trail, the Western Trail, the Loving-Goodnight Trail, the Shawnee Trail and others entered the lexicon of the American language and folk music, and the 'cowboy', became America's and the world's, 'Knights Without Armor'.

Most of the photographs on this web site were taken from a private photo album started by a World War I Belgian Soldier, named Rena' Rosselt, and ended up being a commemorative to his death, and that of 16 other Belgian casualties of 'The Belgium Expeditionary Force in Russia', during World War I, from 1916 to 1917. It was finished by one of his fellow soldiers, and taken back to Belgium, were it was either given to the Rosselt family after it's completion, or kept by the person who finished the album. I believe the latter happened, for the photo album was found at a flea market in Antwerp in March 2000, and I don't believe Rena' Rosselt's family would of sold it. The photo album contained some 30 photos, and several newspaper cuttings. These photos showed the images of a young man, going off to war for his country , and of his last days giving his all for Belgium. I have made this web site an Memorial for Rena', and to all the other millions, military and civilian alike, who died in "The Great War" World War I, supposedly, "The War to End All Wars".

Hello, this is my website for Dudley's who lived in England and were either famous or contributed to the history of England and/or its development during the Industrial Revolution and beyond. There were a lot of Dudley's who made it to the history books, as Knights, Lords and even a Queen and then some who were inventors, scientist, or even just a strong influence in England's past. I hope to include all the Dudley's that I can find information about on this website. If you might know of any who are not listed, please let me know so, that I may add them to this site. William Holden Born William Franklin Beedle Jr., on April 17, 1918, William Holden made his film debut in 1938's Prison Farm. He had his first major role in Golden Boy-1939, where he played a boxer-violinist opposite screen legend Barbara Stanwyck, who would prove to be a major influence on him for the rest of his life. He was a contract player for Paramount Pictures, and appeared in numerous productions in the boy-next-door types of roles.
